This was my vacation at “the other place” in Palm Springs… Next time an come (from germany) to your place…
MC notes: Every nude place in Palm Springs has a very different personality. You guys being from Germany would be our typical guests as you’re not coming just for a Saturday night and my assumtion is you are not just “weekend warrior” types.
Hope to see you guys next time. Give us a call at 760-322-6059 from 8am-10pm PST. We are 9 hours earlier than Germany.
I don't know how you win all these awards, your resort looks boring.
Boring! This is a good post to explain the concept. What is boring/ Like beauty, it is in the eye of the beholder. I think golf is boring and thus would never book a golf resort. Many people think Ritz Carltons are stuffy and boring. Does this make them bad or not worthy of awards. NO!
We have been told over and over we are the most woman friendly nudist resort in America. Some guys like nudist places with lots of guys at them so they can play volleyball, get drunk at the bar and watch sports with other guys. Most women would think this is boring.
A perfect example is we had a couple from out of state. they booked another place for the weekend and us midweek. The wife hated the other place as the guys were screaming playing volleyball, and her husband got shit faced Saturday night. When they left, husband said we should have drinking parties and water volleyball. The wife said we were them most romantic hotel she had ever stayed at and loved out place. Guess where they rebooked.
So if you are a weekend warrior, want to get falling down drunk, like volleyball, watching sports with the guys, and loud music blasting your eardrums so you can’t talk, we recommend other places nude and textile. If you are a regular person with a stressful job, love to relax,
If you are a couple, love meeting fascinating couples from around the world, talking, drink socially, getting fantastic massages (yes, we have won awards for our massages), then we are the place for you.
Finally, we find there are people that like to relax during the day and party heavy at night. For instance there is a casino just 5 minutes from here. Many guests go there to party. Plus, our town has other nightclubs. So Palm Springs has lots of things for everyone which is one of the reasons Terra Cotta Inn is the most popular nude sunbathing resort for couples on vacation in the US.
Hope this helps people understand our business. MC
MC, thanks for clearing up the question on," touring" that will make it easier for my wife the next time we are in Palm Springs and I tell her that we can tour TC clothed the first time, that may just ease and change her mind about booking a stay the next time we are in town. I admire the work that you and Tom do to maintain the quality of TC.
You’re welcome. Now what we have found is real nervous wives that take a tour, never book, They tell their husbands/bf I toured and it’s not for me. Whereas, if you book a room midweek, then the nervous wives have a financial commitment. We find all nervous wives will come poolside in various states of dress/undress but by the time they leave a few will be topless sunbathing, the rest will be nude like everyone else. MC
Hello, my wife and I recently spent a weekend at another nude resort in the Palm Springs area. I guess we didn't do our homework but this place was more of a sex club than a nudist place. It's a shame a place like this even exists as it puts nudism in a bad light. Thoughts?
That place is so infamous in misleading people. They pretend to be a nudist place online and on the phone, but in reality once you get there, you see it really is a sex club with people having sex with each other poolside all day long on weekends. Now I have nothing against sex clubs, to each their own, just market yourself like that, don’t mislead people to greedily take their money and not care if you ruin their vacation. Plus, they’re not even in Palm Springs as they pretend to be (they would be shut down if they were here), but are in a city that had filed bankruptcy and is desperate for room taxes.
It’s funny their site lists a long list of so called awards, but most of those “awards” we earned and they just copy them. For instance we were the feature travel destination (5 page feature article) in a Best of LA edition of Los Angeles Magazine. They buy a small classified ad in that magazine and say they’ve been featured in Best of LA 2008-2013.
And the thing is we screen online and on the phone all potential guests telling them we are NOT a sex club or swinger place. We refer probably at least 20-25 people a week to them, yet they have never once referred someone that said they want a nudist atmosphere not a sex club vibe.
Oh well. Our reputation is we are very honest, hardworking people and are popular 7 days a week. I know lots of other businesses are jealous of our success, but in the long run honesty really pays off.
So people do your homework. And ask before booking if people have sex poolside, can you get a refund. If they say no, you know it is a swinger place or sex club. MC
Hi MC, as nudists over the years we've heard the saying "most nudists shouldn't be". We know what it implies but don't have a comeback. Any ideas? Thanks.
I’ve been putting off answering this as Tom and I both were racking our brains trying to think of a short, snappy comeback. We have long comebacks, but who wants to read them online. Anyone out in tumblr or twitter land have s short snappy comeback?
I have said “and why is it that people post about things that they know nothing about.” MC
One answer here is: “FASHION is for the pretty people, nudism is for the real people.”
And I just though of “Clothes are for insecure people, nudism is for happy people.”
MC, One of the anonymous write-ins asked if it was ok to take a tour of TC, do the people who are touring have to be nude ? That would be a little stressful for some first timers taking a tour in the nude and might be disturbing to other TC guests if they are clothed while touring. What's your thoughts on your experience ?
No the people taking a tour stay dressed. We walk with them so we’re not disturbing the guests here. We’ve been doing tours for 20 years, so it’s no big deal. Most of our guests were first timers too, so they understand how nervous some people are. MC
Sure you guys are more than welcome to come by for a tour. Many nervous first timers do that. Just so you know though for instance we had a couple come by for a tour today from Tucson and then said “OK we’ll book tonight.” And we had to turn them away because we’re sold out tonight. They stayed for day use, but were disappointed. So call first about availability, so you too won’t be disappointed. MC
That reblog of Dianne Webber Dianne Webber enjoying nude recreation is a fantastic photo! Was it taken at your place, or at one of those other places that you like to put down?
I don’t put down other places. I just point out differences between them and us. Sadly in the hotel industry, so many places are desperate to put heads in beds, they will say anything or not say important things because they don’t care about their guests coming back.
For instance most nudists are social nudists and love meeting other people. Last night we had 2 empty rooms, tonight and Thursday, just 1 empty room. Most nudist places are pretty empty midweek. Yet, they don’t tell that to people when they call, so there are lots of disappointed nudists that think other places are busy like us.
For instance we’re usually fairly slow from Dec 21st to 23rd. If you call asking for those dates, we tell you that, others won’t.
We don’t advertise phony “low” room rates and then resort or day fees added on so that rooms are way more expensive. Textile hotels especially have tons of add on fees like energy surcharges, energy “taxes,” early check in fees, late check out fees, parking fees, resort fees, etc.
I just wish places were honest, it would be so much better for the hotel industry in general.
I just reblogged that photo, I don’t know where it was taken.
I really want to join in the nudist lifestyle with my wife. We do get turned on though. How do we not show our arousal around others. I'm not really concerned about my embarrassment but I don't want others to be uncomfortable either. Thank you
Do you go to regular hotels like Marriott’s, Hyatt’s etc and not show arousal when you are poolside in bathing suits? If you do, it’s no different at nudist resorts. You’re just wearing smiles instead.
Just like you have a hotel room at regular clothing hotels to do things married couples do, the same is true here. Just go to your hotel room. MC
Have you ever been to the other clothing optional places around the Palm Springs area?
We’ve been to others, but they have all been foreclosed or filed bankruptcy or sold out and are not nudist anymore. We were good friends with the people that owned Morningside Inn nudist resort, but it’s sold. MC
I saw another question about you guys having a house as well. Are you nude there as well? What about your neighbors?
Hi, yes, we’re at our house 2 days a week as our midweek, “weekend.” We’re nude there as we have high walls in out back yard. We would only buy a place with a private backyard. Some of the photos I post here by the pool are from out house as I don’t like disturbing guests at our resort as Terra Cotta Inn is busy 7 days a week. MC
Is sex allowed in the pool or anywhere on the grounds?
Outdoor sex is not allowed at ANY resort in the US nudist or not. Allowing it is the quickest way to lose your business license. Now some sex clubs do allow it and pretend to be nudist or clothing optional resorts, but you do read from time to time about them being shut down by cities or their counties.
Hi Mary Clare. Your pictures are very often great. But how your photoshoot happen ? Is it Tom who tells you a morning "I want to take a picture of you doing this…" and you shave, make up etc. especially for that ? Or you just have every days activities and Tom regularly tooks pictures of you and post the best ?
We try different themes. But, sometimes we wake up and realize today is National ice Cream Day or Hot Dog day, whatever, so we quickly take photos with that theme. Sometimes the women are doing fashion shows in our lobby trying on the different nudist clothes, so then Tom takes my photos. It’s all pretty natural. MC
My wife and I would love to go to your resort, but California is so far away. Do you know of any resorts here in Utah we can go to?
Utah too far away? We have repeat guests from Japan, England, and Canada here right now. Our guests come from around the world.
Utah is too cold to operate a year round resort like ours. We’re popular 7 days a week. People don’t vacation at nudist resorts in cold weather areas in the winter. For instance from St. George, Utah, we’re just a 6 hour drive. Plus, you can fly here from St. Lake City. Hope to meet you guys. MC
